Should I take Human Growth Hormone therapy?
I am 19 years old and I am 5’8 and 110 pounds. Very ectomorphic body type, and yes I know, hugely under weight. I started eating a lot of food, working out and taking different protein supplements to try and gain weight since I was 16 but I have failed so far.
This is very disheartening because I am a very good soccer player (I received State ODP, High School and Club Honors) but to compete at the college level you need to be bigger (stronger). I attracted D1 scouts but every last one of them rejected me for the same reason: my small stature. (not my height, but my weight)
I recently went to my doctor and asked him about my weight and it turns out that my weight has not fluctuated by more than 5 pounds since I reached my present height of 5’8 at 14 years old. He was concerned by this and brought up the idea of taking synthetic human growth hormone injections. My parents have said they will pay for it if it is what I want and I go back to my doctor next month to make my decision.
I want to get bigger but not if its dangerous
So what I’m asking is:
is HGH safe?
Would I need to work out for it to work?
Will it make my skeletal structure larger?
What are some negative side effects?
Any information you have will be helpful. thanks!
